GBA still fighting for safe return of boxers

first_imgThe Guyana Boxing Association (GBA) will continue to do all in its power to repatriate the four boxers who have been stranded for almost three months in Cuba. In a GBA press release to the media yesterday it was noted…“Today marks the 87th day that Colin Keevin Allicock, Colin Lewis, Desmond Amsterdam and Dennis Thomas are stranded in Cuba. The Guyana Boxing Association continues to do all within its power to have the quartet returned home the earliest possible time.” The release went on to state that “The association has even sought the assistance of local aviation savant Captain, Jerry Gouveia who willingly offered advice. Although approved to return home, the boxers face another hurdle as there are no approved flights to bring them back home. The GBA understands that over a week ago Caribbean Airlines had written to the COVID-19 Task Force seeking clearance to for a flight to several Caribbean islands to bring in stranded Guyanese. A response is awaited. The GBA will continue to do all in its power to have the earliest and safe return of the boxers.”last_img
